Sleepy Boy

I just thought this was too cute not to share! He is always fun in the mornings, it is his happy time. We usually have a nice awake happy time in the afternoon also. Today we all got out for a nice long walk, so he had a great nap and some fun playing on his blanket. Right now, I have him in the Baby Bjorn - what a great invention! He loves it, and I have two hands free.

We are all doing well here. Tom got home yesterday afternoon, now we have a big decision to make about the house in Connecticut.

I am doing well, my recovery is going much faster than I thought it would at first. I feel better and better every day. Before I know it, I will be back to my regular activities.

Three Weeks Old

Today is Baby-O's three week birthday! Yesterday we had a pediatrician's appointment, the little guy is now 9lbs 4oz and still 22 inches long. The doctor was happy with his weight gain, and he is already meeting milestones that are normal for a few weeks from now like lifting his head and watching things. I think he is brilliant!

Here are two pictures from three weeks ago today. I can't believe it has been three weeks already, he is growing up fast.

I think it is funny that Tom is wearing a hat. Apparantly, the room was very cold, but I kept asking for the heat to be turned down - I was so hot!

Tom will be home later this afternoon. The baby is pretty excited that Dad is on his way home!

Missing Dad

Tom is up in Connecticut for a few days doing some work on our house there, getting it ready for a new renter (hopefully!). Baby-O and I are enjoying Nan's company while Tom is gone, but I am pretty sure the baby misses Daddy. Also, sadly, I can not upload any photos while Tom is gone, so the world misses out on cute updates. Do not fear though, new photos coming soon along with an update from our Pediatrician's appointment tomorrow!

Playful and Peaceful

After a few days of endless nursing and being fairly unhappy about doing anything other than nursing, our beautiful boy seems to be back on a more regular schedule complete with playing and even sleeping!

Playful:

Peaceful:

We are on our own for a few hours today! Tom had to go to the dentist and to take care of some other things at work, so it is just Mama and baby today. So far, so good!

Nanny and Pop

We had a visit from Nanny and Pop this weekend. It was the first chance Mark had to meet his first grandchild, and they hit it off wonderfully. Baby-O was all smiles for his visitors and Mom and Dad were happy to have two extra pairs of hands around.

Here is the happy boy with Nanny and with Pop:

And here is how we all felt when they left:

With all the attention, I don't think our little boy had a moment to feel lonely or sad all weekend!
These days are going by so fast. I can't believe he will be two weeks old tomorrow. Some days I look at him and I still can't believe he is here, and other days I feel like I have known him forever.

First Bath!

We had our first bath today! I will spare you the pictures of my poor, tortured baby during the actual bath, and only share the warm, dry cuddly post-bath photos with Dad.

I love this picture. He has started making eye contact with Tom - he knows who Daddy is!

He is a real thinker, even in his sleep!

Baby-O Update

We went to the Pediatrician for Baby-O's follow-up. He gained 2oz from discharge on Saturday - so at least we know he is getting enough to eat! I do believe he is the cutest baby the doctor ever saw...

Here is a short video I took today while he was awake. It is not terribly exciting, but he sure is cute! I could watch him all day. I actually, that is what I do, gaze at him all day!

You may have noticed, I took his name out of this post and the previous baby posts - Tom reminded me today that we need to be careful on the internet - it may not be only friends and family looking at this blog.

The New Family

Well, it sure has been quite a week!
I can not believe that is was late last Monday night (technically Tues morning) that we left for the hospital and it is Sunday again already. The hospital felt like a time warp. We went to the hospital at about 2am on Tuesday, and Baby-O finally arrived at 0305am Wed. He sure kept us all waiting, but he was worth the wait! Kristen was there for my labor and in the next room for the birth because only Tom was allowed in the OR with me. Marian was also at the hospital for the arrival of her first grand-baby. It was wonderful to have all of the family support.

My Mom and Dad, sister Jennifer and her girls, Katelyn and Jenna were here and left today. My Mom got here on Wednesday and the rest of the gang arrived on Friday mid-day.

Joe, Katie and Robin also came up from Williamsburg to meet the little guy on Saturday morning before we left the hospital. Thank you to everyone for their help and love in the hospital - all three of us feel surrounded by love and support. Baby-O is one lucky little boy!

Here he is with his Grandma and with his Grandpa in the hospital:

The happy family all ready to come home from the hospital.

The first big ride!

Our family came home on Saturday afternoon. The routine in the hospital was nice, but it sure is better to be home. It was nice to have my family here with us for the first day, and now it is just the three of us settling into life with a baby and loving every minute of it.

Here's my boy at home!!:

Take a look at these eyes:

Is it possible to not be completely in love with him? I don't think so.

Introducing Baby-O!

We welcomed our baby boy to the world at 0305 Wednesday morning. He was 8lbs 10.9 oz and 22 inches long at birth. We love him more than words can express.

Happy Easter

This morning, Tom and I got up early and headed downtown to see the cherry blossoms again. I thought we would beat the crowds, but it turns out that lots of people got up early to be at the Tidal Basin at 7am on Easter morning.

It was still nice though, and we veered away from the crowds at the Basin to walk along the point at Potomac Park.

The blossoms were actually nicer over there, and there were no people.

After our long walk, we went for brunch in Alexandria to continue enjoying the beautiful day. Then I took a nap. I really like naps these day.

Only 10 more days till my due date! I can't wait to meet this little person!!
