Mom's Going Where?

This is my first week back to work. Monday was pretty rough - I was sad and so tired by the time I got home, I just loved on the baby for a while then crashed for the night.

Yesterday and today were better, but I would rather be home with him.

We are lucky to have Marian here to take care of Baby-O during the day, and he has been great for her. He is napping much better for her than he ever does for me!

The best part of my day is coming home to this:

Big Eyes

Well hello!

Olin is enjoying being on his belly a little more, as long as his neck is not too tired, and he is not too tired.

In an Instant...

Sometimes I like to imagine the internal monologue going on in Baby-O's cute little head. For example, here is what I think he may have been contemplating over the course of about 90 seconds or so this morning:

"Hmm, what should I do today? "

"I know, I will cry suddenly for no apparent reason,"

"and then stop suddenly, just to keep Mom guessing."

"Yup, I think I am cute enough to pull that off."

Hey Baby...

Hey there baby, what are you looking at??

Oh, I see, you're looking at the animals going around and around.

Oh, now you are looking at me, you little cutie-pie!

Hmm, I am lucky he likes to lie in the crib and watch the animals while I shower. I keep hoping that he will be mesmerized and fall asleep. It hasn't happened yet.

Smiles

I finally caught some smiles with the camera. He is so charming when he smiles. The third photo is blurry because he was moving and the light was not great, but I could not resist sharing because he just looks so happy!

I am finally going to send my camera in for repairs because I think it is actually getting worse. Don't worry though, I got the old point and shoot up and running to fill in the gaps.

Getting Stronger

Baby-O keeps getting stronger and happier. We can usually get him to stop crying by shaking the shaker and/or dancing around in front of him now (as long as he is not hungry or too tired).

Here he is picking his head and shoulders up. He was doing it even better and holding his head up for a long period of time before I got the camera out, of course. I think by the time I started taping he was getting tired. It is a hard angle to shoot.

In other news, we had a minor disaster this weekend. The laptop crashed and with it, all of my pictures are gone. We are hoping to be able to recover the data - especially vacation photos and of course, the photo-documentation of our little guys first two months. The good thing was that we had about two months left on the extended warranty, so Tom basically came home with a new computer for free.

More soon!

Changing Every Day

The little guy changes and gets more and more engaged with the world every day. In addition to watching and smiling at people, he is also looking at toys and smiling just because now! I do think he is the cutest baby ever, especially when he smiles at me!

Here he is fixated on the toys hanging in front of the bouncy the other day. I call them his "woodland friends". He stared and smiled at the squirrel for a while.

We had the two month check up yesterday (hard to believe he is 9 wks old today).
Official stats: 10 lbs 5 oz (39th percentile and up 1lb 1 oz since the last weigh-in); 23 inches (76th percentile and 1 inch growth since birth); 39 cm head size (45th percentile). So, he is doing really well in terms of size and has either hit or is ahead of his developmental milestones. He also had his first shots yesterday, he was a very brave boy and luckily has not had any fever from the shots.

The Meuse family visited this weekend. It is always great to see Joe, Katie and Robin. We had a nice relaxing neighborhood day on Sunday. Here are two out of three Meuses with Baby-O.

And just for fun, a shot of Sylvester pondering the days when he was the center of attention and wondering what the heck happened to his life!

Catch Up

We have had a lot of visitors lately, and boy has it worn us out!

Last weekend, we saw Kristen for a few hours:

Then during the week we traveled to NJ for Grandmom's funeral. It was a quick trip, and we learned that Olin does not like the car seat anymore. Hopefully that will change. We don't have any photos from the trip, but it was a very nice service and the little guy was able to meet more of his extended family. We will miss Grandmom, and are grateful to have had her in our lives.

When we got home, our friend Nora came to visit.

Over Memorial Day weekend, Grandma and Grandpa came to visit with cousins Katelyn and Jenna. We had a very busy weekend! We visited the Natural History Museum and attended the dress rehearsal for the National Memorial Day concert on Saturday. On Sunday, we saw some of Rolling Thunder (the motorcycle rally tribute to POW/MIA) and went to the Air and Space Museum after visiting the local market and seeing some music.

It was a great weekend, the baby enjoyed the visits, but was unfortunately cranky for much of the weekend. I think it is the heat. Here he is with Grandma, a shot of Katelyn and Jenna and one of the baby with Katelyn:

Monday we said goodbye to our visitors and relaxed at home for the rest of the day. Of course, we had some dancing time!

Last night we had a great visit with our visitors from Guam. It was really great to see Traci and Matt, both of whom were in town for a conference.

This week, Baby-O and I got out every day for a trip somewhere, including his first art museum yesterday. Today, Karen and Krishnan are coming over for lunch and a play date.

Just to hold you over...

We are having some visitors from Guam tonight so I am not going to get the full update posted. We had lots of visits from friends and family to document - including a great visit from Grandma and Grandpa and Katelyn and Jenna over Memorial Day weekend.

For now, here is a cute shot of my boys with their matching eyes from about a week ago...

Busy Busy Busy

Things have been busy around here! I will post about our weekend visitors and recent doings later today (or at least I plan to).
