Spring in DC!

Spring is here and so are the cherry blossoms. We went down to the tidal basin to see the spectacle yesterday along with throngs of other people. The blossoms will be at peak next weekend - if we go down next weekend, it will probably be early in the morning.

I am grateful to be having a spring baby. We will be able to get out right away, enjoy the nice weather, and introduce the baby to the world! I am also actually starting to feel ready (mentally) for the baby to come - I am so excited to meet him or her!

I really feel lucky to live in a great city neighborhood with this outdoor farmers market every weekend.

PA Shower

I only have a few pictures of the PA shower that Tom took with my camera. The quality is not that good, my camera is not doing so well in flash situations since it got dropped in the Virgin Islands. I need to find a repair shop and have it looked at before the baby gets here.

The scene as I started opening presents. Jenna was very anxious for me to open my presents, and I think she photo-documented every move I made during the process - you can see her in the second photo with her camera out.

Thank you again to Jennifer for hosting the shower at her house, and to Mom for helping Jenn with the food. Thank you, also to everyone for coming, especially those of you who traveled to get there. It was really nice to see family and friends to welcome the new addition. The arrival is really approaching fast now - just over three weeks left!

VA Visit

Last week between our weekend trips to NJ and PA I traveled down to Yorktown, VA for work. I was able to spend the night with Katie and Robin, unfortunately Joe was away for the night. It is always great to catch up with Katie and to see how fast kids grow. I can't believe Robin is 3 already, he is getting to be such a big boy!

Almost 36 Weeks

We have had a busy few weeks around here. Last weekend we traveled to NJ for a shower thrown by Tom's Mom. Last week I drove down to Yorktown, VA for work and got to visit with Katie and Robin. This weekend we traveled to PA for a surprise shower thrown by my sister Jennifer and my Mom. Thank you everyone for your presence at the showers and all of the wonderful gifts. I am pretty sure we have everything we need now!

I am done traveling now - under orders from both Tom and my doctor . I thought I could go back to Yorktown for work again next week- the doctor said I am crazy which was what Tom told me, but I did not believe him.

I will get some pictures from both events up this week, but for now - here is an update picture on my growing belly.

Growing

I am feeling good and growing every day.

Yesterday Kristen invited us to Baltimore for afternoon tea to meet and visit with some of her Baltimore friends. What we did not know was that she decided to give the tea a baby theme:


It was a very nice afternoon with delicious food, a variety of teas and great company. We had a nice weekend, beginning with an Olympic Curling Expo at one of the downtown hotels. I hope to get some pictures from that from our friends who we went with.

Belly Update..

Coming off of a tough one day work week, I am sure glad to have a three day weekend here!

Here are a couple shots Tom took of me last night...



Tom has night shift all weekend, so I plan to watch a lot of the Olympics and probably continue my nesting spree. We bought an antenna for the TV last night and we pick up NBC clear as a bell! The Opening Ceremonies were so nice (even if I did fall asleep for part of them).

We are slated for more snow Monday night - maybe work will be cancelled Tuesday!

Blizzard, Part 2

The snow is still falling. This is crazy. People in DC have been calling the dual-blizzard "Snowmageddon", "Snowpocolalypse", and "Snowverkill". All Fed Govt agencies are closed again tomorrow - that makes four days in a row. I am not complaining. Unfortunately, Tom has to work tomorrow night, but hopefully the roads will be a bit better by then.

We had probably 14 inches so far. That is 14 inches on top of the two feet from the weekend. I heard on the radio today that we broke the all-time record for seasonal snowfall at Reagan Airport. The grand total is 52 inches for the winter so far. Really, this is just crazy for DC.

I will add a new belly photo tomorrow. I hope everyone else who is getting hit by this storm is doing well - I am sure that pretty much everywhere else is more prepared for it than DC.

More to Come

We are braced for another 10 - 20" overnight and into Wednesday. The snow has not started yet, but the sky looks threatening (not to mention the weather maps!).
