May?

Wow!  It is May already!  April flew by with lots of visitors and travel.

I took these shots at Easter of the little man in his Easter duds, and hunting for eggs:

Before I left for San Francisco and Tom left for Yorktown last week, we went on a tour of the White House gardens with Grandma and Grandpa.  It was surprisingly not crowded, and we had a really nice time.  The gardens are very nice, and we were right next to the White House.

While we were both traveling, O was a very good boy for Grandma and Grandpa and then for Nan.  He really enjoyed them, and was happy to have Mommy and Daddy back to.  He also got a new bed! I talked to him from San Francisco, and he said "I got a new bed, Mommy!".  He loves it.  He climbs in at night or for a nap and says, "I need blanket" "I got animals".   He is talking so much, I love his little voice.

Less than two weeks left in D.C.!

More Fire Trucks!

Nan was here last week to stay with Tom and O while I was in Jamaica for work. She was out with O one day, and they stopped by the fire station where one of the kind fire men showed O around one of the trucks. He was in heaven!

Thanks Nan!

My trip to Jamaica was very busy, but also productive. We are looking forward to seeing Grandma and Grandpa at the end of this week.

TWO!

O is two years old today!

Jennifer and I made a fire truck cake for him this year - it was a big hit.

Here he is blowing out the candle...
Enjoying the icing...
After he first tasted the icing, he said "I like it"...
He even cut the cake with his knife.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY O!!

Cherry Blossom Season

It is peak cherry blossom season a little early this year. I went down to the Tidal Basin yesterday evening after work with a couple thousand of my closest friends. It really is beautiful!

It rained all day today, so we spent most of the day inside. We are hoping to get out to the National Arboretum to see the blossoms there tomorrow.

Cheese Face

O now has a "cheese face" that he gives me when he sees the camera... still a cutie though!

The other day, he decided to dump all of the blocks out of their wagon and wanted me to push him around. Who can resist?

C&O Canal Weekend

We spent the weekend at a canal house on the C&O canal in Maryland, right outside of DC. We had a wonderful time at lock house 10. There are five old lock keepers quarters that have been refurbished by the National Parks Service. This house dates back to the 1860s and was refurbished to the mid-1930s when it would have been updated by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The CCC was very active in the region around the canal when it first became a National Park.

The house had electricity and running water, but no TV or radio or telephones. The weather was really great this weekend. O had a great time playing out on the porch, in the yard and walking along the tow path and down by the river. I wish I had some pictures of him collecting pine cones in the yard with his dump truck. He was determined to clean up every pine cone in the yard.

Here he is building with lincoln logs, hiking in the woods, eating dinner with Mommy,
playing music with Daddy and feeding Kristen some of his famous soup:

The kitchen was my favorite part of the house.

Kristen stayed with us on Saturday night - O had a lot of fun with her as always.
We have been meaning to stay at one of these houses since we first learned about them not long after we moved to DC. Luckily for us, our friends who booked this weekend were unable to use it, and offered us their booking. Thanks Marcus and Bea!

Proud

On Sunday morning, O got our attention to show us how he set up his digger and dump truck

He was very proud of himself, as he should be.
