This is Baby-O's new thing. When I am in the kitchen, he crawls over and pulls himself up to stand and hold onto my legs. It is a very cute habit! Cute, and rather immobilizing for me...
but, with a face like this, how can I resist?

Baby Proof
We set out to spend the long weekend baby-proofing since the little guy is very mobile now, and likes to find things to point out to us just how woefully not baby proof our house is (was). So, instead of just picking things up and putting things away, we decided to rearrange the entire downstairs. Now, our sun room is the new dining room, the old dining room is the new living room and the old living room has the sun room furniture. We actually really like it. It is hard to believe, but we never really finished moving in to this house - probably because we thought we might not be here long. We recently found out that we will be in the D.C. until summer 2012, so it was time to really finish the process of making a place we want to be in!
Although he does not feed himself with a spoon yet, we do let him hold one during his meals. He mostly puts the right end in his mouth. Actually, I think he turns it around sometimes because the cool metal feels good on his gums.
The lack of updates last week was due to baby sickness. His eyes were really red and gunky, so we took him to the doctor and it turned out he had ear infections. He is feeling much better now.
We will be in DC because neither of us were selected for the teaching jobs at CGA. We are both sad and disappointed, but we do like it here and now we don't have to worry about being apart for a year or more.
Here is Baby-O having dinner with Sylvester in the new dining room...
He laughs so easily, especially at Tom, who was making surprised faces at him in this picture.Although he does not feed himself with a spoon yet, we do let him hold one during his meals. Mini Vacation
Since the blizzard in the Midwest spoiled our travel plans to Oregon, we went on a mini vacation adventure closer to home. Tom and I both felt in need of a little get away, and the trip we took to Bedford, PA to stay at the Bedford Springs Resort was just perfect (and the great deal we got made it even better). The resort is a beautiful old hotel which was recently renovated. We had a nice relaxing time lounging on the big bed...
Hiking to the springs...
The hotel had big open spaces and long hallways for the little guy to crawl around in. He had a great time exploring and tiring himself out! Sometimes he was able to hitch a ride, I just love the way his little hand is stretched out on Tom's arm...
Tomorrow we are getting visitors - Nan and Pop are taking advantage of our unplanned weekend home to come see Baby-O. We will probably watch the Super Bowl tomorrow. Go Steelers! Go Packers! I have no compelling reason to cheer for one team or the other, so I will probably cheer for whichever team is losing.
